| Sometimes losing Battle reports are the best ones. Good report. |

I hope that I didn't leave anything important out... It got pretty hairy for a while.
Heartcutter, we've never spoken, but I hope that you can accept imitation as a sincere form of flattery. I added some bats and valks to the mix...
...the bats were incase he used dark swarm at the end, but Moyo too, failed to use that best of zerg units. I'll bet this guy goes on to win quite a few ladder games though. |

| Just a quick message BEFORE I read this. You mention agent911 and zileas. if u don't know you should go to www.icantwin.com , that's agent's site, and zileas has got his school of asskicking (WAY out of date) on infoceptor.com . ok, im off to actually read the report now, hehe |

| hey how are you doing YourRoleModel?? this is an awesome battlereport the pics are just the best. how do you make the pics anyaways paint shop pro5?? and how did you enlarge the pictures (last one i think) with science vessels and marines and firebats. once again great job!! :) |

The pics? Honestly... I do this kind of stuff for a living. I am an interface designer/3D illustrator animator at a company that produces web based and cd based training. That just means that I have access to some cool shit, and alot of practice.
I used Photoshop 5.0, but really, any half descent editor will do... it just takes some time to lay the graphics out.
Anyway, the enlarged picture is a result of 3 screen captures put together. Any paint program (Photopaint, PPP, Photoshop, etc...) that lets you have layers that can be made 50% transparent will allow you to see where the pics line up and overlap them. Hope that helps, thanks for all the kind words once again. |

| Book of Heartcutter? ummmm, sorry but the six pack comes from -=1999=-'s hardback edition. But you could have just been mistaken, Heartcutters book is a best seller also. |
| #10 YourRoleModel[4021] |
|
Sorry... I didn't mean to slight your six packs... I was trying to follow Heartcutter's strat vs zerg, so that's why I gave him credit when it worked.
Hey -=1999=- I saw you on the ladder and tried to join your game, but it was full. Didja win? |

Hey RoleModel, I'm no heart cutter but a Terran did this strat to my mass crackling attack...
he had nearly 3-3 units, and he placed 2 medics on his ramps. It forced me to either retreat, micro my lings to attack his medics (I could only get 2 on the ramp at a time, the others would run around like crazy), or die=) Cracklings can take down medics, but it's extremely difficult to micro your ling's since the one's in front are dying to the X amount of marines behind the medics. (if your wondering, I just casted Darkswarm and overran him, but that's beside the point=D)

Blank, fortunately for me, this guy wasn't at your level. Thinking about the kill ratio though, I'm guessing now that I underestimated the number of speed upgraded lings that he sent in the first wave, because my bunker under repair killed about 20 itself.
To anyone who runs this site... did you guys get the pics I e-mailed yesterday (icon type stuff)? There was a problem with our server at work, and I'm not sure if my e-mail went out. |

Great BR with some great graphics. I love to read about Zerg dying as the hot lead chews into their flesh and soon pools of blood soak into the ground.
I better zerg player would have had some queens to broodling those medics... I hate it when that happens. I had a zergie plague my choke once, that hurts as well. Zergies do have to be creative to destroy a terran on LT. Just throwing troops up the ramp is suicide. Peace! |
| #15 Heartcutter[4033] |
|
Top notch report. Excellent graphics. I am very impressed.
The six pack is all 1999, but the rest of the strat was straight from the book. Superb use of Valks. Keep up the good work. |
| #16 YRM[4034] |
|
Yeah, he could have done that, but I think that he did the 2 pronged attack to prevent me from micromanaging against his zerglings, and it worked... almost (had I been able to stim my marines at the ramp... who knows?) What would have done him a world of good was 2 devourers with his mutas, but I guess he figured on only facing wraiths... I don't know.
Actually if he's going to broodling a medic, I'll irradiate his queen, a trade I'll take. Plague would've been nasty though. |

Thanks Heartcutter... The other above post was in response to G&Z, but...
"I don't just read the book of Heartcutter, I live it... heh..." Well, I have alot to learn yet. What do you do Terran vs Terran? And what about islands? Just curious. |
| #18 Heartcutter[4037] |
|
Terran vs Terran is for another day. I do lose some on occassion, but my usual route is for hard infantry and ghosts.
I'm also trying to find an effective island strat, and my search is turning up many strange things. I'll post my strat in about a week.
I'm also going to be in a 2v2 tournament this weekend, so I'll also let you guys know how that goes. |

Bet ya can't beat my all time kill ratio.
I was toss, he was zerg.
I kicked his ass
Ratio: 422:21 |
| #21 Dawggydawg[4054] |

| Let me guess... u used psi storm and reavers, right? |
| #22 Necrosausage![4055] |

The best Kill Ratio I ever had (offline) was on the one of the Levels of the old Veteran campaign.
I went totally defensive with lots of tanks/bunkers and just build 8 BCs with 1 SV, and supported them with 3 dropships of SCVs for repair. Unfortunately, I got a little careless at the end so I lost my SV, but the kill ratio was:
722-1
=D |

| what is this book of hearcutter you guys keep mentioning? |
| #24 Rudie[4060] |

| oh... and i thought it was a great report, great pics, 10! |
| #25 YourRoleModel[4063] |

Rudie, search by name: Heartcutter... he talks about the book, but I don't know if he's published a real one online yet. HINT HINT
By the way... thanks to all of you who said "10!", but to those of you rating, what's it take to get a "10"? I'm gonna get one eventually... who is YourRoleModel? Technically, that's me. (even if I'm not... heh)
P.S.: The name comes from being a Chris Jericho fan, not ego. (sorta) |

Dammit Role Model, I hate you.
I was gonna do something like this but since I don't play SC much anymore I just haven't got around to it and now you went and beat me to it.
But I don't care, I'm gonna do it anyways, and it'll put your's to shame!
Ok, j/k, but this is very good |

Well, to find out how to get a 10.0 (and I have three) (none of them real BR's hmm......) just do a search by 10.0!
=)
Mostly, you have to start out with a great battle. Add a tense and well-written report, with interspersed cut graphics (yours will do nicely). Also, it should be a long report. Next, bring up at least FOUR of the following items:
Vultures and mines.
Creation of new terms (e.g. Six-pack, Deon Peon)
Use of cute referenced designed to make the reader sympathize with your troops (e.g. Don, Dick, and Harry, or a marine hitting on a medic).
Mass scouts
Mass irradiate campaigns
Successful Nukes (plural)
Defilers AND Queens.
Dark Archons.
Malt Liquor (Credit given for creative use of other alcoholic beverages - not throwing back a cold one.)
Being Johnny Vegas, CattleBruiser, or in general having more than one previous report up.
Have a generous rater find it first. I noticed one report jump from 5.0 to 7.5, but it's always nice to have a rater make it high early, so others do it too.
There's probly more.

Yeah, I've only written 3 reports, I disagreed with the 10 that I got for one. But I can't rate my own.
In the beginning we didn't even have ratings, but this sucked cause people wasted time reading the crappy reports. MY idea was to just give them each a gold, silver, or bronze. I didn't feel a need to distinguish between a 9 or a 10. I just want people to know which reports to read to save them time. So the moral of my story here, is to not worry about ratings so much. I've noticed if you get a 10, then other raters are reluctant to rate it lower to ruin your score. Also I've noticed that some raters rate lower or higher than others.. But that's something you have to live with I guess. Personally I rate about 5% of all reports. I guess I am lazy. |
| #35 YourRoleModel[4186] |
|
I was just curious what made a "perfect" report... I'm happy with a very excellent rating and all. But hey, if you're gonna do something, try to shoot for the stars. Because of my profession, good pictures are pretty important to me... like 40% pic 55% story 5% misc...
(although I still suck at BroodWar comparitively...) |
