if it was about more recent warfare like the african corps, i can still accept it
but this report dates back 1 mill years...its unacceptable

Deathgod. This site was formed on the idea of making reports for StarCraft. If you have a major beef with everyone who likes StarCraft, and knows its more then just fancy graphics and an unbalanced mess (Warcraft 3.)

Anyway, I don't really know what to say about this..."battle report". I'm a huge fan of WWII history, and military history in general, but this failed to hold my attention. Honestly, this is more like history class than a BR.
The width of the report gave me a sensation similar to jabbing a hot poker in my eye. Not good.
Maybe if you make these more...interesting, then more people would actually take it as an entertaining piece of history.

I thank everyone here who issues constructive comments regarding the composition of my Battle Report, and I shall enedeavour to evaluate the concerns you raise in any forthcoming account I draft.
BlueRibbon and BulletSponge - concerning the complaints you exclaimed against the width of the battlereport - how wide was it genuinely? Utilising the (admittedly crude) ruler, I gauged the report table to be nine and a fifth inches in breadth, fitting comfortably within my window. Due to the magnitude of some of the image alt-texts, I admit that it is initially extremely wide, but once these images load then its should be reduced to the above size. |

Your report comes off a lot more like an attempt to stroke your ego than to genuinely inform and entertain. Which is too bad, because if you had just refrained from trying to slap us in the face with your vocabulary I'm sure I would have enjoyed it a lot. |

The language is not hard to follow - it is just unnecessary and does not flow well. You can put away your intellectual snobbery.
I do not come here to read book reports - I want to be entertained. If I wanted to learn British history a google search would have provided me with all I need. The combination of the subject matter and the language gives me the impression that the author is an intellectual elitist out to educate inferior minds. Oh and stop before your holier-than-thou attitude surfaces again and you tell me that "history is entertaining" and that it "sucks for me" if I do not get it. There is more than one form of entertainment. What I expect here is to get lost in the fantasy of a good fan-fiction or to relate my experiences to those who play the same games I do. The pleasure of history or the enjoyment of unraveling a brain teaser I will seek elsewhere.
The language makes the report worse, not better. There is no way that the author talks like this.

Linternet, I can comprehend your desire to concentrate the site solely computer games, and indeed I would concur with it wholeheartedly if this site was "blizzardentertainmentreports.com" - but it isn't. You should appreciate that there is a report type marked "OTHER" on the submissions page, and I cannot perceive any harm in employing it. My previous report was positively received, so it appears to be a suggestion that is appreciated. There is more than one form of entertainment, most certainly - so why not have more than one here?
Concerning your negative reaction to British history - one of the primary reasons why I focused upon this sphere is because, stated succinctly... I am a Briton! It follows that I am most well-acquainted and comfortable with British history - should I have been born on the opposite coast of the Atlantic, this report could quite easily have been a recantation of Gettysburg.

Also, if I this report was solely intellectual self-aggrandisement, why have I not been crowing about my achievement? Indeed, as you have reacted negatively to my manner of writing, it appears that I have failed in, supposing it was true! That is not the way to improve respect, is it?
I apologise you do not like my style, yet that is, genuinely, how I prefer to communicate, and I have no intention to 'impress' others. Indeed, my language has already been moderated - in my previous report, some complained about extended metaphors, and you will discover that they have almost all been removed from this report.
I fail to signify any relevance between the way I speak and the manner in which I write, whether they are similar or not.
As the situation is, apologies again if you didn't appreciate my report, and I will attempt to accomodate you with my next one, but I believe that you are causing something of a storm in a teacup rather than exposing genuine faults. |
