Hm.. you got the races wrong. In the first game, I was the toss and Omni was the Zerg. And when you dropped that goon on me, I had a dt and 2 dragoons. If you dropped those zealots, I doubt it would have been "gg." I didnt really like that map, and most people hate a map the first time they play it. It happens when people play the map I like, orbital death.
To tell you the truth, I have never known Omni to be rude or a jack-ass. He was always calm headed, the way you tell it makes him seem imature and a jerk. I'm pretty sure Omni didnt mean to be mean, but thats just a friend sticking up for another. I'm being honest here.
I wouldnt write battle reports just for the opportunity to make fun of, or insult another player. That itself is a jack-ass thing to do. Your opinion that he sucks and the fact that you stated that in your report is an unsportsmanlike thing to do, I thought you hated those types.
Oh well. From what I saw, you were a decent player. I enjoyed storming your probe line :D. Dont get the wrong idea of Omni, maybe later well have a friendly rematch on a map we pick. |

Hey Whoop, long time no see :-). Great to see you're still kicking butt on the Starcraft scene :-).
Anyway, if a player is rude to me, I usually resist rematching him and I just get outta there, despite usually having to ignore comments like "Chicken" and "You suck" and "You cheat" (or some subset of those :-) ). I figure that b.net is an open community with no selectivity, thus you're gonna be playing with people of all ages and backgrounds. For me, I just don't want to deal with a teenager (not to stereotype all rude players as teenagers, but that's just been my predominant experience) flaming me and making me lose sleep :-). I know you're a humble guy but it seems everytime we play together, one of us gets accused of cheating :-) (usually you, because I suck ;-) ).

However, by posting this br WITHOUT my permission is being an asshole. I did this once to ralessi, and I apologize for it, but i DID NOT write the br with the intent to make fun of him or to hurt him in any way. This is a selfish act on your part and though I was going to apologize to you when I got on next, that is out of the question. This is a great site and a tribute to the whole Starcraft community. I always learn more about SC strats from reading BR's than from discussing stuff in theory (although the latter is still important in the overall understanding of the game). | I admit helm I was rude and a jerk. I was angry how I was losing and I took it out on whoop. For that I am sorry and I was wrong. I was also wrong to assume he was a cheater even though he did get a few luck moves in. Basically he kicked my ass toss vs toss twice (i sux toss vs toss i dont know why), but this br is what I'm so angry about. It shouldn't be done and no one should write a br with the intention to flame someone, especially without the whole story. It's rude, its cheap, and its selfish. For this, I SHOULD be angry. |

Hey, lets all be friends here. Omni is angry as he has a right to be. If someone wrote a br to simply point out that I suck, I would be angry too.
I also feel its stupid and immature to say omni sucks without playing him. If you feel you can kick his ass, then 1v1. I think it was funny how sydane and the other bunch were forming opinions without even seeing him play, I'd put my money on omni.
This is just a game, and if someone is acting stupid and rude towards you, forget about it. Its not worth your time to get angry. Its like road-rage, whats it gonna solve? Nothing. Its only gonna piss you off and make you bitter. Lets just forget about this. We all act like piss-heads from time to time. Its a frickin game. |

On the gg part... leaving w/o gg is usually done by a$$es. Usually I say, because this is obviously not the case here. The majority of the time I have had this happen is was pre-emted by, "You cheat!!". I have done it once or twice, but only after getting stuck with a REALLY horrible player and watching him play SIM CITY as I am continuously (sp) attacked. |

Since when do you have to have someone's permission to write a battle report? If you are playing a person who is known for writing battle reports then you should almost expect to see one pop up with your name in it sooner or later.
I will not condone what Whoop did, (writing this BR) but I will not chastise it either. I will simple say that the post and the subsequent comments were all very entertaining. So someone had some fun at your expense after kicking you around, does it really matter? Did any one get killed? Was there a law broken? Was there some sort of unwritten code of ethics breached? Maybe, but it is only a game people!!
On the "GG" I often fail to get a GG in before a person is eliminated or before I am eliminated. In this case the GGs should be exchanged in the channel or even go through the hassle of whispering an opponent or ally after a game.

Well to those of you who said writing this br was all right, I'm sure none of you are perfect and all of you have had your bad days when you did something you regret. Does that mean that if I see you acting like a jack ass I should tell everyone in the world? Well if you say yes either you're lieing or you're a moron. Now which one is it?
Writing this br was wrong simply because he didn't even look into it or why I said what I said. He simply exaggerated and wrote a crappy br that was only entertaining because it made fun of me. It's all fun and games until something like this happens to you.
Oh and mark4 last time I checked being annoying in a game does not constitute a reprisal in this form. Whoop is not a judge and is therefore not capable of giving out any form of punishment. Saying I'm responsible for my own behavior is condoning this and saying that every time you act like a jack ass a br should be written about it to make fun of you. That, my friend, is wrong as hell, as everyone has their bad days.
Of course you don't need permission to write a br Rychean, and Of course you shouldn't write a br just to make fun of someone. This is obvious etiquette and me being a jack ass in a game is a lot different from being a jack ass in a br. They both are the same except one is before an audience. Anyone who condones this br is either immature or blind in someway. I promise not to judge which ;). |

Omni: try to substitute the word "jerk" to any descriptive nouns such as "great player," "crappy player," "smart guy," "moron," etc... and you'll find mark4's statement is nothing but a general statement claiming that everyone has the right to write a BR and portray any player to be an "X" if he indeed behave like an "X".
Sorry for the symbolic term, but what do you expect from a Math and Computer Science Major? =P

Well, whoop is a naturally talented writer, and this battle report is an A KICKASS report! And i'm writing this comment to help whoop with is goal of comments, and to add my dumb opinion. I think it was only a few weeks ago when a guy from nohunters.. i'm going to go ahead and say his name, NappaSpiritball or something to that nature.. was playing a 2on2 with helmintes against diogenes'sdog and myself. Well they were both zerg and went mad lings to take out my base.. which they did but dio had gotten mutes and bascailly won the game. Dio's mutes then triggered nappa to think that dio had cheated to get those mutes so fast, and with that assumption nappa disconnected as we were razing his base. This sets up my opinion.. i believe that a gg doesn't necessarily have to be given.. cause it is kinda your decision at the end of the game if you think if was any good. But to go as far as a disc would IMO be unsportsmanlike. And i don't think that omni really deserved some of the stuff that whoop wrote about him.

Those of you who have played with/against me know that I'm sometimes a very unforgiving, arrogant player. I remember one game, I was allied with someone from NWTR, playing against two other NTWRs, who said that he was inexperienced at BW, so I thought "Great, newbie". I proceeded to ridicule him for building 3 early bunkers and even wrote my opponents (who knew him) to the effect of, "This guy obviously sucks, can you guys go easy on me?" Well, game progresses and, guess what, we lose the game . But who loses the game for us? I do. The loss was entirely my fault, and he showed himself to be a pretty good player except that I just didn't trust him because I thought he was a newbie. I apologized profusely to him afterward, I still feel what I was unforgivable but he was extremely kind and we even started playing together regularly after that.
Man, we can all be jerks sometimes, myself probably worse of all since I have a very competitive nature. A lot of my real life friends refuse to play RTSs with me because I'm not encouraging. And yes, sometimes I even accuse people of cheating when in fact I find out later that they're honest players.
Reputation is reputation, whether in game or in real life we make impressions on people and they have a right to act on them. But what really determines relationships is then not really the first impressions, but instead how maturely people give and handle (i.e. respond to) criticism. After all, we CONSTANTLY misinterpret what each other say or overreact or catch each other on bad days. That's human and it's unavoidable. What's more controllable is then how we resolve those situations. If a person slanders me, then I'll try to understand why he reacted in that way, apologize for my part in it, and also then maybe make himself go through some self-examination if I feel he had some part in the blame or acted inappropriately himself. And that's how relationships are built. It's very rare that you'll hear something like, "I thought Shockwave cheated, therefore I hate his guts forever", but you'll often hear in real life things to the effect of, "I thought Shockwave was rude at dinner. And then when I told him, he chewed me out and swore like a dog, therefore I hate his guts forever."
It goes both ways, though: Unless the offense was glaringly obvious (I dunno inthis situation whether it was, Whoop makes it black and white whereas Omni says he exaggerated the story), the offended would be gracious to leave some opening for reconciliation or consider that he might have misinterpreted. And the offender needs to be humble enough to admit that he was maybe at fault even while he seeks to justify his actions.
In any case, if I ever act like a jerk (like above), which has happened a lot and will continue to happen, please post a BR as punishment -- because I deserve it and it's very unlikely that there will have been an excusable reason behind it -- but please also accept my apologies when I respond in the comments section. Then we can all continue to be friends :-).
