Not bad, not bad at all. Did anyone else see a HUGE white gap at the top? Dunno, maybe it's just my platform or some shit like that.
Anyway, if you do another one of these, try using a nice red arrow showing exactly what piece moved where. It was easy to tell during the second half, but at the start there were too many pieces to keep track of.

I liked it. It would be nice to take the board and maybe add colors to show the zones of control and the movement of the pieces. That would show more explicitely how the attack is mounted to non-chess players like myself...

| #25, I did write a chess battlereport last year. Another guy named Rumplestilskin also wrote one, and his was way better, but mine was the one which compared the game to starcraft more often. Hope that answers your question :O |

This reminds me of a different chess battlereport done a few months back. GJ, chess brs are hard to put a real feeling into due to lack of action, but I think this panned out well. |

chess reports own, the first one i read rejuvenated my interest in chess. the last time i played was like 3 years ago, and now i installed chessmaster 6000 so now i play once in a while.
the report was good, it brought new meaning to the term "indestructable." however, i must disagree with what you said about not having any chance in chess if you play passive. there are many skilled players who play positionally. they slowly grind you down by taking control of the center, taking away space from you, weakening your pawn structure, and finding better positions for their pieces, instead of all-out attacking

I didn't see a big white space at the top, and I use IE 5 for Mac. I dont' think there is anything in my HTML that should logically cause a big white space, so it must be because PCs are gay :P
To #33, playing positionally is not playing passively. Playing positionally means that you work actively for small positional gains, there's nothing passive about it :P Some players, like the late Tigran Petrosyan, played pretty defensively, but they weren't playing passively. They were completely aware of what was going on— one grandmaster said that Tigran Petrosyan would "play a defensive combonation long before the opponent realized he had a chance to attack!" In THIS game, however, Von Bardeleben ignored Steinitz's threats (and his own threats on Steinitz!) and mindlessly brought out his pieces. That is what I meant by playing passively. |

| nicely done. I wonder CKane if you have ever considered highlighting how imbalances work in chess. Like how inititive in ths game gave way to central space, which gave way to open file dominance, which led to a good knight vs bad bishop, etc, etc. I used to be about 1900 in chess, but have always been a bit upset that this knowledge didn't translate all that easily to SC. but usually I just blame my old 29 year old reflexes. ;) |

| Prester John, Black couldn't castle, cause he would hang a piece. The king provides a protecor to the bishop, and if he castled, then white would take and be up a piece. By castling by hand, black can transfer the defense to the rook, and only after the rook is in place, can the king leave. Course, this plan takes time, time which blakc didn't really have. |

Good report, but I would add that the reason that the Italian Game and the Guicco Piano are out of fashion nowadays is that the Black response to e4 if often hypermodern(Nimzo, Pirc etc) or Sicilian (Tamanov, Dragon etc). The Italian Game only really works with a symmertrical game. Other than that little quibble, you did a good job.
I recommend one of Boby Fischer's come from beyond victories for some good action. |
