omg tdm i love you and i love civ2 too!!
i still play this game somtimes (only have single player vers tho :/ ) but this report was a welcome change! if it was longer, had pics maybe, and we actually got a feel for the game, this could have been a very high gold report. as it stands now however, there was nearly NO game there. you quit writing it substantially too early. make the next part the entire rest of the game and youll get a better score (if the rest of it was good =o )
we have very different strats, but maybe thats cuz you were playing multi player. i usually whore cities at first, and get no military units until i meet a neighboring hostile civ or i get elephants. elephants are by far the best early game offensive unit imo (4-1-2 i believe) anyways, i take out maybe 1 or 2 civs early then just whore cities some more. i control the seas IMMEDIATELY when i get ironclads and destroyers and then just wait until i get combined arms. then, every city i own i turn to helis and just absolutlety annhilate the enemies. they can go as far as they want, actually take cities, and fly,... its a godly combo in a godly unit (10-10-6 or something like that)
anyways as it stands with this report:

Ah, Civ2... Unfortunately, I don't think I can find my disk. I played a lot more Civ1 back in the day, but not a lot of 2. By the time I got regular access to a computer, I was into Starcraft and well... I still am. Odd. I've played Alpha Centauri too, and liked it, but have only played it once, and for some reason have never had the urge to go back to it. Maybe I was civved-out already.
One question: How the heck did you found three cities in seven turns? Were you finding a lot of advanced tribes? |

Civ 1 was an incredible game for its time.
Civ 2 is less fun to play than Civ 1, it takes a lot longer and it's better balanced.
Call to Power takes forever and isn't much fun.
Alpha Centauri takes forever and is almost as fun as Civ 2. Would probably be more fun if it wasn't quite so tedious.
Minor suggestion for this battle report - I think you could benefit from running this through a spell checker.

I pretty much agree with Strom, although I haven't played Call to Power. Civ I was great. Civ II wasnt' as addictive, and I just can't get into Alpha Centauri. Something about conquering some alien planet doesnt' appeal to me as much as conquering Earth.
This report actually was engrosing me, until the abrupt ending. PLEASE COMPLETE IT and submit it as one long report. Pics arn't necessary as long as you write well, although smaller text would be nice.

| I liked the idea of a different game being reported. I played a bit of Civ 1 in my day. Anybody remember "Empire"? Now that was a game. Turn based. Dos. Little pictures of units that flashed on and off. Games took DAYS to play. Each turn was about a half hour once you got into it with 50 or more units per side. I used to make my own screen shots by DRAWING what I saw on the screen so I could take the piece of paper it home and study it and think of strategies before my next hours long "hot seat" session at my friends house. |
