Now for the first substantive comment:
I don't see how Orc could have lost - I get the impression that his game plan was great - out expand, annoy, and get a lot of hydras.
Assumption 1 - Placing groups of hydras all over the map IS NOT BAD - rather it is good (see Nanogirl) - this way you can attack from more than one direction. Although this does require a lot of micro and being able to determine the best routes of attack, I don't think this would be too difficult for Orc. If a zerg player can get a two front battle going, the zerg can win. If he had hydras all strung out on the way to his base, well then, thats his fault.
Assumption 2 - Don't hydras beat goons, especially if goons are unsupported? Certainly, range helps, but so does numbers! Space also helps too - More hydras vs. goons per "plane of attack" (where all those guys start to mess around trying to get in range to attack). (Ignores storm.)
Do toss upgrades matter THAT much?
Also, the standoff picture is kinda messed up - the picture goes off the table
Anyways, kudos to King-Lewis for winning the tournament.

| Goon/Temp really owns pure hydra. If Orcmaniac had teched to at least speedling he could have easily owned King. The fact that Orc had taken his min only suggested that he should have had the minerals for the zergling production. I blame Orc's loss on his failure to recognize the power of the 'ling! | Nice BR! I was impressed by how you were able to catch the mistakes made by the players -- a lot of BR's tend to point out one or two major screw ups, but you kept on both of these guys for everything they did wrong :P The pics look good too. |
