Sounds much like my AD&D campaign... in that the characters are constantly trying to kill each other. Well, at first they were, but I persuaded them otherwise. One was making it clear that I wouldn't save their asses (like with the coma), and since these players knew each other in real life, they decided not to incur any OOC wrath by killing off a character.
The other thing I do when players are getting out of hand is pick up d20s and say, "OK, a meteor falls from the sky hitting you for...."
I am reminded of my first DM dealing with a difficultly perverse player. The player in question (we'll call him Greg) said that his character action for the round was to crouch behind a rock masturbating. This was a priest character, by the way.
DM's response: "All right. You look up from your magnifying glass and tweezers to see a hill giant inexplicably falling from the sky. It lands on you, crushing you to jelly."
"Did that really happen?!?!" said Greg, perturbed.
"Were you really masturbating behind the rock?"
"Um, no!!"
"Good. Then don't say you are."
"So am I alive?"
"For now."
Since then I have adopted the "tough love" philosophy of DMing (or GMing, to be more politically correct).
