| Hunters is not that bad of a map, as long as you play it infrequently. It's been labeled gay since many newbies play it, that's all. It's really rather fun if you play it every once in a while. |

As for the game, I was pretty pissed that all I needed was one little turret to keep the game a 2v1... plus I was pretty pissed at my putzy partner for not building any units, he does that too much. I think he only got 24 zerglings and 12 hydras total, which is pretty damn weak for an 11 minute game on hunters. Ah well, there's always next inhouse... |

I liked this report. It was a fun read.
Hunters is an ok map but I don't like it because of the imbalance of the starting positions.
Anyway, good job sp|ne, you did a nice job reporting on an 11 minute game... next time, find a better game though :p

And ya i know it was a really short game ... but it honestly felt like a 20-25 min game, cuz there was no more than like a 20 second break of action (besides the first 3 min) in the whole thing. It was hella cool to watch, i had no idea who would win. |

I'm sorry, there seems to have been a misunderstanding of post #2 above.
Let me clarify.
Most other BRs here that deal with games played on the Hunters/BGH/modified-in-any-way-Hunters maps (such as this one) are often rated no higher than a 3.0. Others have stated that a 5.0 really is a good rating for reports, among which are numbered the raters themselves.
Also, you're obviously posting a Hunters map battle report on a supposedly NoHunters (i.e. anti-Hunters map) webpage. You know that opposition to your report as such is to be expected. You and many others here have viewed my above post AS opposition when in fact, it was just commentary to support the generally accepted purpose of this website: every newbie eventually plays on a Hunters map, but the point of this site is to allow for a more varied view of Starcraft. Afterall, it's not called "Hunterscraft". You're looking for a flame where there isn't one. To think otherwise would be foolhardy.
Using the tried and true grade school method of gathering your friends to support your cause (i.e. the players of the game you reported on) by writing in posts immediately after an imagined fault in your battlereport leads me to think giving you a 5.0 may have been undeserved.
You do show the promise of great skill in battlereporting and I look forward to reading more in the future. Echoing some of the above commentary by BR.com regulars, however, please choose another map/battle to report on. |

I would have to agree in general with Alita99. The battle was only slightly more interesting than a normal rush game because someone survived both the standard initial rush and counter rush. Other than that, well, seems to be a waste of using reporting talents on such a sub-standard game (map-choice has nothing to do with this one).
And, if you feel the need to respond with something negative, like 'shut-up', I will refer you to the second half of one of Fractal_Wave's quotes:

Lets see... we have Alita being reasonable and presenting logical arguments... then we have the high school kiddies saying "Shut up."
Rather than say shut up, read what's being said ya retards. This report did kinda suck in that the game itself wasn't anything special, and that it WAS on hunters. Why does hunters and its variants suck? Because it's even more overplayed than Temple, and still is. Everyone knows it in minute detail. Hell, damn near everyone knows it so well they can predict entire games from start positions and race matchups. Basically, hunters sucks because it got old, and playing it every once in awhile doesn't make it any less old.
If ya have fun on it, fine. If you want to report on it, fine. But it doesn't serve to make the map any less gay, in any form.
I'm not gonna give ya any praise the way Alita did, 'cause you obviously didn't bother to read past what ya thought was a flame. This report doesn't deserve an 8, IMO, but I'm not a rater anyway. :> |

I agree with everyone agruing about the map..in a sense that Hunters is a good map ...real good...way over played and most games on that map consist of newbies.And because of that most people dont play it because its such a standard map. And everyone wants a variety. But There is nothing wrong with playing the map once in awhile. If you played it non-stop for like 12months(in which most poeple do when they first start to play the game). Then lookin at the map is like "BLAH". But if you havent played it in awhile there is NOTHING wrong with reporting or playing the map at all. Cause its not a bad map, i like it, i dont/havent played it in like 6-7mo. somethin like that.
Anyways, everyone can have theyr own oppinion on the map. Dont critisize someone for liking or disliking it.
BTW Nice BR- Liked the way you made it seem like a longer game than 11min. PLus the ironic turn of events in the 2v1 situation.

The report itself is well done. However, a game that had only 5 'attack-move' attacks can only do so well. If the map was on an unknown map it would be the same way; very little strat and pretty much the game being one because of one unit (didn't even need the zealots, just 1 dt). Action is all fine and dandy, but in the end, it's hollow without strategy and surprise.
However, the map choice was not a reason for the problems. In truth, I've grown to prefer hunters (NOT BGH!) to lost temple, since I can't remember the last time I played the former map :P. Jeesh, half of the strats thought up now are based on a ramp, natural, and island exps. IMHO, if hunters is so hated, Lost Temple realy shouldn't be so far behind.
With that aside, good reporting, but not so great a game. |

I liked the report even though it was a short game. We all have to understand that each time we play a game, we are not necessarily going to get the mother of all games. Knowing this, if we expected each battle report to be a mother of all games, we should have a lot less battle reports. For me I just like reading everybody's different experiences. Granted in my opnion some reports might be lame but I think they still should be reported. What one person thinks is crap, somebody else loves.
As for why everybody loves hunters and lost temple. Human Beings love familiarity. Everybody knows how much people hate trying new things. Well hunters and lost temple is where people's comfort zones are. Until there comes a map where people feel they the same comfort zone, these two will be the maps most people play.
Just my 2 cents. Keep up the good work Spine! Loved the pics.

I would <b>NOT</b> have reported this game if it sucked in the eyes of me, the observer. I really did enjoy watching this game. The two things that were interesting were the two simultaneous attacks, and the winning of a 2v1. Yes it was quite a short game, and i was surprised by this. The entire game was filled with battles, and it did seem more like a 20 minute game.
The players in this game were certainly not newbies. They are all 1200 + players. Tool has a 1290ish ladder high, dmb doesnt ladder but could be 1350 (imo), Evire is a 1200 ladder player (his brother is NewbieMcnasty), and Flyers! is a little bit new, but he is probably a good 1125 player.
Also, hunters is a fairly good map. Yes it is a little unbalanced, but the only reason it has such a bad rep is because it is played overwhelmingly by newbies. This map, in the hands of good players, is fun to play/watch on. It requires good rushing tactics in a 2v2/3v3 game, although i think 1v1s on it are very bland. I used to think it was an awful map, but if you play on it with good players, it's fun. BGH is a totaly different story ... it's a joke.
Another reason for BRing this game is that i wanted to fool around with pictures/images and Microsoft Image Composer, while not having to report on a very long game. I wanted to learn a little bit more about it, and i did that.
So please, calm down. Hunters is a good team games map, the game (imo) was enjoyable and fun to watch, and i tried to write it so you guys could enjoy it please. So just chill ...
