-The.Confessor | | #3 Kadabra[23802] | | 99.p1.dialup.gru.net | To be honest, I always thought lings+muties were the ONLY thing to do in a zerg vs zerg game...it may be I (and so many others) are wrong. The lurker strat works wonders zersus lings, so long as scourges accompany them to fend OL's. In pre-BW, I would use lings, hydras, and scourges to beat the ling/muta combo, and this seems like an even better adaptation.
One thing you should make sure of is to *never* lose expansions and major tech buildings (spire). If you lost, say, one of three hatches in your main, you could recover, but an expansion is HUGE. Confessor just decided to post a ZvZ battle, first one I've read in a while, no need to get defensive (or rather, in your case, <B>o</B>ffensive)
Confessor, seems like you had a massivly lucky break in Ghost not atacking w/ his lings, by the description, he coulda razed you right then and there. Ghost, any input why yas waited? Hrm, that brings up the question on how to save yer ass from lings while teching to hydras/lurks in a ZvZ, mebbe if you clogged your ramp w/ lings then used hydras behind , you'd buy yourself enought time for sunks/lurk aspect to finish, but then again, I sukk, so don't listen to me :)

I mean, even if you have an OL there to spot, the lings get shredded, unless you have muties.. and with hydras loafing around, as well as scourge, the way confessor had... you see what happens.
I'm not sure I follow what Fallen's driving at. Yes, muta+ling combo is a standard strat, but it's not the sole winning strat in ZvZ. SC is a great deal about countering, and it looks like Confessor had a decent one there. It's not like Terran had to rely on M&M to win every TvZ matchup.
Confessor.. play around with plague and darkswarm. Fizban was using it to great effect on my mass muties in a 2v2 we played recently (Where his partner disced =( ). Don't forget the zerg spellcasters. :> | | #12 Ativus[23905] | | proxy1-external.omhaw1.ne.home.com | Snowreaver - I dunno if this usually holds true, but one time I was zvz on snowbound, and he went lurker while I was lings/muta. at one point, he had two 0/1 lurkers attacking an expansion, and I send 12 1/1/ speedlings and an OL. I came out with 4 lings left, but it might have been bad placement on his part or he might have focused on the hatch.
Nice report confessor, I wish my zvz was this good, and I've been at it a very long time! I enjoy reading your reports, so keep them comming!
