this might just be yav, but please, I'm tired of all the artistic license everyone is taking. I have a hard time following the tactics and strategy between all the romanis and whoever the fuck else transmissions to the mother ship of tarranis or wutever.

| Good report man. The fictional interface didn't cloud the meaning and details of the report; it was relatively easy to follow. You had a good balance of pics and text; however, you might want to work on being more selective on which pictures you include. The pictures could also use some detail and in-depth explanation, maybe captions? I liked the signature logo at the end. All in all, great report, I'd give it an 8.5 |

Map hack? I was a co-referee of the tournament, not a participant. I could see the whole map the whole time. Trying to select out what only one person could see was actually quite difficult, and involved the use of transparent black from one of the screenshots a player sent to me.

Oh, and for those of you who are having a hard time following, just make this connection:
Aldaris = Pillars, and anything Aldaris' is Pillars'.
Romanis = cherry, and anything Romanis' or "the enemy" is cherry's stuff.

bleh I'll go w/ bob. I guess I ain't into the fantasy aspect of sc nearly as much as the game aspect. N all the fictionally story element just didnt do a thing for me at all, and clouded out a game i wnted to know in detail.

This is the type of report I can do. I tried doing a "normal" report, and everyone flamed it, completely. I got a 6.0. Here I sit now with an 8.5, potential for more, and other reports I've done have gotten even higher using this sort of style.
As for the strategy, it's all in there. I wrote it to be a combination of both the strategy in the game, and a story...sort of along the lines of the "Teaching Private Vegas" bit. That's what I was aiming for, at least...I apoligize if it was confusing. This is the kind of report I can do, though...so it's what I'm sticking with.

I was thinking for a bit, and I think I see why people are confused, and think the strategy isn't in there. The game lasted 26 minutes. Think about that for a bit. If you wanted strategy, here it is: Both players went shuttles, hard dragoons and reavers, with a few templar and DT thrown in, until Pillars got some carriers.
Which was more fun to read?

One last thing before I stop spamming my own comments page...just wanted to mention that the ref never showed up for this game, so I had to do all of the duties of the ref as well as writing the report. So, I wasn't able to write down how many probes each side had when they erected their first pylon, and other things like that. Sorry.

Grrr.... Dark Templar didn't exist however many hundred years before the war!!! (Yeah, yeah, realities shemalities...) The only other thing was the difference betweent the conclave and the templar caste (political, military). But over all, I liked it.

Ive been waiting for you to write somthing like this Iceshadow. IMO this is what the first person style BR is meant to be like. The story was absorbing and the stratagy element was for once well described. Bravo Ice.
BIW praetor, what are you talking about? From the last couple of comments it seems like the training session is takeing place post BW. The only problem is that the conclave no longer exists at that point. The protoss govern themselvs by a triumvirate after that.
Also, I assumed throughout the report that Romanis was pillars, since his reputation is far greater than Xds Cherry and that seemed to fit with the "best student idea". |

Hmm. The "best student" thing had nothing to do with reputation...just a storytelling element. I tried to link Pillars with Aldaris in other ways...such as the yellow probes, and the starting position. I guess I failed...I'll have to be more explicit next time.

I liked this report a lot. It was original and well written. My only two complaints were, one, that it got a little too involved in explaining the intricacies of the Protoss society, and, two, that it seemed inconsistent with the Starcraft storyline. Since this is set during Aldaris's training period, it had to have been before the events of Starcraft, let alone Brood Wars. That being the case, Aldaris should not have had Dark Templar among his simulated forces, nor should he have heard of the Zerg (he might or might not have known about Terrans). Moreover, Aldaris was a member of the Conclave, which made him Judicator caste, not Templar; he wouldn't be involved in Templar training.
Did you mean Artanis instead of Aldaris? That would fit the story a lot better.
Nit-picking aside, this was a great BR. I look forward to more like this. |

Awesome. Want to read more. Keep the style the same. Its your style and you write well with it, don't just go for the tech approach, because you won't do as well, as much as I like reading them too. Keep is as a story. :)

Thats not what people come here to do, if we wanted a story, we would buy a damn book, we come here to polish up on strategy, and read reports on battles...Not your imagination...maybe next time we can waste our time reading an actual battle report? |
