| in the 'who's who at starcraft.org' or wutever it's called, it said maynard was born in '80...so however old that is is how old he is...=) anyway..i think 1980...poor guy...i think he shoulda had mark4's attitude and just kept playing until he lost. i think i heard somewhere that he's starting to play AoK also? i think someone said that kills your starcraft skills so maybe he just hasnt been practicing...i dunno though |

i'm sorry, about refusing to shake hands after a game, refusing to give the traditional gg, and in fact not even surrendering but rather just getting up off your chair and walking away is pure lameness no matter what skill level your at.

| Getting up and walking away for a little bit isn't as bad as a lot of other options that could have been exercised. Just as long as he came back in a short while. I think we've all been in the position where we've lost a game to high stupidity on our own part and it's not exactly a wonderful feeling. What he probably wanted to do was curse himself out, and couldn't do it in public like that. ;) |

Umm, not surrendering and getting up and walking away while your opponent still thinks that your playing shows a complete lack of tact.
people give "elite" players way too much respect based solely on the basis of their playing ability, and easily ignore whenever they happen to act like total lamers.

Wrong acting like a lamer is telling someone with a lot more skill than you how they should play the game.
Maynard has every right to be pissed as he was killing a expansion with goons and reavers when 7-10 dt's start to slaghter his troops May knew that he wasn't going to win after that and was mad since dt's is the reason he doesnt have a extra $500.
But I guess you would have still played and hid you pylons around the map.........sad.

P.S. Its not a game anymore that you play with a friend its competition for money that makes a big difference. |

Oh, forgive me for not hopelessly sucking up to the elites and defending them whenever possible.
i guess because i do not go around advertising myself and am an unknown that my opinion in invalid and carries with it little weight.
being an honorable player means more then just saying gg's after a fun SC match. if you cant bring yourself to say even that after a competitive match then quite frankly it doesn't mean a damn how honorable you consider myself.
and please, spare me the inevitable comments like "well, your just a newbie, so you don't know what its like playing for money"
we all have situations in the real world where a lot is on the line, and i hope that most of us showed a little more sportsmanship then maynard did.
but please, i'm just a newbie lamer like Tariq says, so why even bother with what i have to say. |

People people people....
Bottom line, if you weren't there, don't comment. In my opinion he acted as 1/2 the people I know would. I have always taken losses w/o any problems. I do know people that can't stand to lose. I have friends that throw hissy fits if they get beat. I think this is one reason they don't lose a lot, or maybe it's because they don't often lose. To say Maynard was being a poor sport... I think is excessive. To say he could have acted differently, is probably a better choice. I talked with him before the match a little asking him some questions and he was really cool. I don't think I have the "Oh my, let's support the experts" attitude, if he were Br@d and acted that way, I see no difference.
Bottom line though is that it wasn't <b>that</b> bad. I think it has been completely exagerated. If you really want people's opinions... ask ppl who were there. I don't know how the other's felt, so feel free to ask them. Geno-the-feared, Agent911, Kev-the-feared, [s]mass, IN-Bob, Maven... they were all there. I think if it was THAT bad, either the feared's page or Agent's would say something.

| I don't blame Maynard for being pissed. DTs are imo the lamest way of winning. I hate losing to DT. Actually I rarely lose to it, but I seem to have to pull back from an attack that would kill the guy because he got 2 DTs out. But if he did have an observer...he could've at least TRIED a little longer, I guess. Knowing me, I probably would've gone over to Br@d and told him to shove his DTs up his ass. |

| Lamest way of winning? Wtf is that, but that little comment is the point. The point is i dont know wtf everyone is having this argument. Its not like Maynard threw a hissy fit or a tantrum or started cursing anyone out, he got up and walked away, so what if he didnt say some useless bs like "gg" he shook the guys hand and was NOT a jack ass or a poor sportsman. If you lose and think you could have won you get upset, some people dont, lots more do, and he did not handle it bad, he might have handled it better, but that doesnt mean he handled it bad. |
