When you think about this fact, it makes you wonder...why neutrons? Wouldn't electrons or protons hurt more? Heh. Perhaps bombarding molecules with neutrons breaks them into unstable components. I dunno...any chemistry majors out there? |

Enjoyed that report immensely. Neutrons? Well, I think they penetrate armour and flesh and basically destroy life-forms. I dont think they hurt bldgs and machines. Long ago Neutron bombs were made...

About Neutrons : This field of study is not of Chemistry but of Physics. Chemisty researches more into bio-organism and chemical reactions. A Nuetron Flare generator is more suitable to be listed in the Electronics department.
Contrary to popular belief, Electronics is actually the result of the thoery of atoms.
Macdonough was right when he said that Neutrons bombards molecules and split them up.
This function is one of the key points in the working of the Neutron Flare Generator.
This device does not shoot Neutrons one by one but instead shoots a "bundle" of Neutrons which burst out in all direction upon impact. The serve to use the Neutron to bombard onto a maximum surface area and split the maximum amount of molecules up. (This explains the Splash effect)
When the Neutron splits molecules up, it has the same explosive effect of a "Neutron Bomb", mentioned by Paul T. This effect generates a lot of energy, mainly in form of tremendous heat and also creates more Neutrons. (These Neutrons came from those molecules which has been split up.) Heat damages everything and Neutrons serve to continue the chain reaction. (These points further explains the splash effect)
Thus Protons and Electrons were not used due to their inefficiency in spliting up molecules AND due to the Neutron's side of being able to generate extra damage in form of Heat AND due to its ability to continue the reaction by producing more Neutrons.
By the way, the battle report could be more detailed. Like explaining how the Hydras killed things such as Reavers or how the Muta/Scourges killed the Corsairs. Instead of syaing :"the Hydras killed the Reaver", I hope you could put : "He sends a Hydra up to absorb the first shots of the Reavers and then focus fire on the rest. When the Reavers are about to fire again, he sends one more up to divert all the scarabs to itself, minimizing the damage while killing the reavers."
Well, these will help us to analyze the situation better and apply the tactics in the game.
