Just kidding. (: Awesome report, FLS. However, stellar reports like these tend to overshadow the humble text-only reports generated by yours truly. I try, but there's no writing descriptive enough and no humor clever enough to give me an edge over flashy images. (: |

Prozerran you never stop amazing me. Great battle report, quite an interseting concept as well, with many possible outcomes. I like that when you attack an allies, allied base because he's an enemy than what is your mutual ally to do? The bad part about that is most people will backstab others and suck to protect someone that may be a better player, in essence backstabbing another partner just to see that he survives. Although is it was made so that you couldn't take off ally then that would be cool. Anyways great battle report, loved the sliding maps of battle, heh heh should get a 9.5 to 9.8 for this inventive game and battle report.

wow, a great report. your graphics are truly amazing, and the "Circle of Alliance" is a wonderful new strategy for a game.
Because of a new kind of game, with new kind of graphics, your work was a pioneering crash, which many of us lowly writers like me, will try to copy and follow..
if i could rate, i'll give it a 9.5..i hope the battles and all were a little more detailed tho...i thought it was a little short...
but what do i know? i can't even insert a pic into my reports...hehe

This sounds like a funny game type, and I will desperately try to find one for myself..
I must say, that this report had stuff I´ve never seen before.. innovative and exciting I hate to say that it did´nt reach 10, but mayB a 9.7..
Sorry, I dont know what´s missing..
Good players though.. I would be scared to death playing that game..

| Woah, that's a cool report. That game type sounds cool too. I can't believe Mark had more points than everyone else combined in a 5 person game! He never got touched early though, so he had a long chance to build. Everyone must still be scared of his, "kill the person who attacks me first," rule. |

Great game and great report. Nice concept that would have been better if you didn't have an early drop out. That basically guaranteed Dref's win. My big strategy question is why didn't Loti counter-attack Mark while Mark was hammering on Pika? That was the only guy Loti had to eliminate to win the game so I was expecting a huge tank push on Mark4...

Well... let me expand on that. Everyone's probably waiting for me to bitch about this getting a high score.... well screw you. This deserves the high score. It's well refined and has obviously been worked on by someone for more than 20 minutes (cough cough annoying blue text report by celedor and nikki ough cough). Not sure if this is a 10, but since that report got a 9.6 - i feel all reports should be moved up 5 points to compensate for that peice so this report hovers around 15. 8)
Damnit... now i gotta go back and work on the one i'm doing. BAhhhhhhh.... Between battlereports, quake3 demotest, elephant poo-loads of homework, and a girlfriend (Yes, some starcraft players have girlfriends) I'm living 152 hour days to get everything done... and recently half those hours have been on the can thanks to a constant flow of liquid spewing from that particular oraphice (sp?). Bahhhhhhhhhhhhh.... that explains the one word comment up there too.

Wow, I'm in awe, nice BR. Too bad patheto left...in circle of alliance games, the determining factor usually is who goes out first. Obviously, this puts his partners at a disadvantage. If the two non-adjacent ones (Drefsab and Ioti in this case) are crafty, they can just decide which of the remaining two (Mark4 or Pika_Flare) to eliminate, since they'll win either way. So the whole game is about making sure that one of your partners isn't the first to go.

I decided I'd better spring to my defense here.
Triggers: Yes, I screwed up the triggers a little bit. For some dumbass reason I decided killing all the units wasn't enough to prevent rebuilding. No, I had to take away all their resources too! I realized my mistake later, and I have since fixed it.
Triggers pt 2: If you have no enemies left to kill, but your partner does (because both of your partners are alive) you vanish from the battlefield while your partners battle it out. At the end your winning partner and you get the victories.
Triggers pt 3: The way the triggers are set up, you CAN'T unally. Every time the triggers execute (every 2 seconds or something like that) they reset the alliances. In fact, the way it's set up, if you click "Attack" and then click your allies unit, the next time the triggers execute the attack will stop. This doesn't protect against nukes or spells, however. (oops, did I say that?)
Helping my partner: Well, first, I didn't have seige mode, second, one of the attackers was MY partner, third, I did manage to emp a coupla templars when Mark was attacking, fourth, Mark is scary. :-)
Also: STOP CALLING ME LOTI GODDAMMIT! |
| #20 Ioti (205.168.7.27)[18228] |
|
Couple more things:
I didn't put god vision for the observers for two reasons:
A) It's a pain in the ass to place that many map revealers on a 192x192 map like Ricochet.
B) The way the alliance triggers were set up, the players were constantly sharing vision with the observers, but the way that particular trigger works, it does it both ways. Meaning god vision for everybody if I placed the revealers. Not good.
When you lose on that map, all your units disappear, but you don't have to leave. You can stick around and watch if you want. The triggers even automatically set up shared vision for you, so you don't have to worry about some asshole not sharing vision. (*cough* Asha *cough*)
In the tradition of Mark4:
"The first person to call me Loti dies."
Or some threat like that that I can't back up cuz I sux too much. |

Great report, yada yada yada all the stuff you've heard before :) I just have one question: do the allies have shared vision? if so, how do the players not see everything? Because if player 1 is shared vision with players 2 and 3, and player 2 is shared vision with 3 and 4, wouldn't player 4 be able to see player 1? Because Player 3 is sharing the vision it has, incuding what it's getting from player 1. Am I making any sense here? Is this even how StarCraft shared vision works? :) My head hurts...

| Hey I cannot read the report. Is this another Netscape problem? Johnny can you help. I hate when I can't read 10 rated reports. |
| #31 <img "/images2/n_fls.gif">[18255] |
|
| No it will not. One can only see what the other shared with him. I think in SC programming part for vision (and fog of war for that matter), there are different part of "seeing" the map. First is what's within the sight range of your units, including com-sat and parasite. The second kind is what is shared by your partners. So when one share vision, only the first kind of vision is shared. Therefore, people can only see within their partner's unit vision/com-sat/parasite. |
#32 (fjwilson.reshall.uc[18258] |
|
Palpy, when you share vision, you only share the vision from your units. So if Mark4 shares vision with Drefsab, and Drefsab shares vision with Ioti, Ioti cannot see Mark4's units, because that is not part of Drefsab's vision (what his units can personally see).
Patheto better not show his face for quite some time. |

BTW, you can rip the triggers out of the map (by using "Save/Load Trigger") and put them into ANY 5 player map you want to, as long as you make sure to put the starting points in order. You could also adapt them to go up to 8 players if you wanted to. However, you need the Extra AI patch in order to set up shared vision if you want to add more people. (Not to play, just to create) You can get it at the Camelot Systemssite. |

Umm... if Pika died before Ioti, then Mark4 lost =Þ
The way I was taught it, there can only be two winners in Circle of Alliance if they both kill their last opponents at exactly the same time. If Pika died before Ioti, then Mark4 lost and Drefsab is the only winner.
But that's nit-picking. Great report. |
| #51 Ioti (sfra1ts2.ca.us.prserv.net)[18439] |

Winners: The way I set it up, nobody wins until nobody has any enemies left. Drefsab won first, but Mark4 still had me to kill, so he didn't win until Mark did. Then both Dref and Mark won. But hey, that's just the way I think it should work.
Map: It's a recent Blizzard MOTW, Ricochet, that I added the triggers too. I made the triggers, not the map. BTW, I uploaded the map to my web page. Grab it here. I'll upload the trigger file in a bit, when it's up it'll be here. Sorry, I would have commented on this report sooner FLS, but I've been on vacation in Las Vegas since last Saturday.
Great report!!
Here's how it worked from my viewpoint. Each player has two allies and two enemies. My two allies were Ioti and Mark4. My two enemies were Patheto and Pika. When Patheto dropped out (gay gay gay), My only remaining enemy was Pika. I attacked him alone the first time without too much worry because his only remaining ally was also my ally. When I saw all his mutas I pumped out some scourge to accompany my hydras. It was obviously in Mark4's best interests to use his only remaining ally (me) to help take out one of his 2 enemies.
When he messaged me to help him take out Pika, I was happy to oblige because he was my only remaining enemy and I was in a win/win situation because I didn't have to fear a counterattack from anyone.
I couldn't lose! :-)
Its an awesome game type guys. The reason I like it is because of the politics. You've got to convince your allies that its in their best interests to help you eliminate common enemies.
Again, great report FLS and great map Ioti.
