Hey Prae, great stuff like always ( I haven't read it yet thought =P)
But I'm sure it'll be good like always. IMO your better than almost all of the now lame dragonlance and forgotten realms authors ( With a few exceptions-of course).
Keep it up, e-mail sometime so we can play. |

Yearly Comment, YEAH!!
Yay, at last another .Preator production!!!
I know you must be busy, but cant U see that us poor Phoenix Legion starved misfits must HAVE MORE!!!
I´m not gonna comment about the report, I have not read it yet, but I´ve printed it, and now I´m gonna sit down in the coffe-room here at work and sip my coffe and be taken to the mysterious world of Ashrigo, where the Phoenix Legion roams!!
Thanx again for making this!
Moo!

tetsuo, thanks.
Cashew-of-Doom, that's real strong praise (I think). Thanks.
Von-Doom: Wow. But honestly, my life has become much busier. I think I shall set up a rotation of sorts. Brigand, ch2 is next, then ch7 PL, then Part IX Chronicles. Then a chapter of Other.
I know this makes a horrendous lag between chapters of stories. Too bad. I can't convince myself to give up any of the storylines =).
I played War2 Total Conversion the other day. Wasn't all that great. =(.
parties, school work, Mari Jose, writing, goodness gracious, time to collapse into unconciousness. |

Wow!!
Now I´ve read it.
Chapter VIII and still astounding!!
I liked the part where you/he assigned his troops into squads and had a response/help squad available with Wraiths and Vultures..
I do that sometimes playing, but it takes up much time, so I lose.. Formations are cool too.
Thanx again. |

And now for the comment:
.Praetor you are one helluva writer and your story is outstanding. I usually never read battle reports that are not accompanied by pictures since the writing can never plant accurate detail in my mind, but your story does it all. I am amazed at the way this story is turning out and how it keeps one in suspense!
So different from the other posts about "ownage" and "rapage", this one has style. Another point is that THIS is the way Starcraft SHOULD be. It's all very well and good to imagine your generals and officers handing out orders in the command center, and that's cool for a story, but in real time battle you can have your forces wiped with one afk glance.
Starcraft should be the way you wrote this story, with AI subordinates whom you are able to give orders to! How many times have you seen a butt$%!& scv sitting there and letting abuilding burn down because he has no AI? How about Wraiths who fly over a cannon tower field? An scv who runs through the enemies base while you tell him to go around it? Money in the bank and nobody to spend it?
I hope that one day there will be a game with AI good enough to maintain a war machine by giving orders on the North, West and Eastern Fronts. Regular Starcraft warfare occurs in the blink of an eye. You go to Lockdown and your ghost runs around in circles. You go to psistorm and you hit your own guys. I'd prefer you could give the option to the ghost to "Lockdown the first mechanical bastard you see" or "Psistorm anything that comes within your vision". Or how about those diversion tactics where you are assaulted frontally while he drops 8 seige tanks into your mineral line, and your scvs continue to mine the minerals as if life were just grand!?
Anyway, computer AI isn't good enough to do any of this right NOW. But .Praetor's story is where it SHOULD be one day. That's all I'm saying. That's all folks.
Awesome story.

| VRAM: I've been thinking about AI like that for the past month. It would kick an incredible amount of ass. Imagine setting your SciVessel to EMPing that hallucinated arbiter swarm. All the hallucinations = Gone and the real arbiter = no energy for recall. Good luck pulling this off fast enough if YOU had to do it. |

| OH yeah that wood kick ass, a game that plays for you. I'd love that!!! That is a good idea to have AI like that but not in a more action based game like sc. I'm thinking if Starcraft had maps like three times the standard size, tons of units and technical stuff then maybe. Anybody ever played homeworld??? Well games like that could use AI. |

Prae, that's high praise =)
If your better than a published author, I'd hope it's high praise. I forgot to read it, so I'm gonna now before I eat my chicken that makes my brothers eyes water when he smells it. Mmmmmmm. ( From the insane amount of spicyness) |

TheTeckMan, I have an AI that I sorta created from the insane AI, its the same thing, except it m&m rushes me hardcore. I have a 10% success ratio in stopping it. I need to get my lurka out phaster =[

I was wondering if it was possible for elite programmers to create an interface which can play Starcraft and run an Insane AI program which uses computer Insane AI for your own character. I don't know that much about the program of Starcraft itself, or even how this would be acheived, but much like it was done for Quake I have wondered this for Starcraft. It would probably ruin the game if everybody had access to it, since they would all take their insane Ai program to ladder and beat everyone with it (unless you met another insane AI program), but it would be kind of fun to see what a program could do properly micromanaging 100 units at once.
With human limitations we can only micro a few units at the same time, while the computer is able to multi psistorm, broodle and lockdown with ease. Have you ever been frustrated as your entire BC fleet has been locked down by ghosts in a comp game? I have, once 15 were all locked down, no matter how fast I tried to shift attack the ghosts.
Anyway, let's get real though, Starcraft is not chess and it will not be around for years and years where people are able to develop programs that pit Man against Machine, but it would be cool to see such a thing (just not abused). |
