Good show Ghost,

Your opponent should have stopped making lurkers as soon as he saw you got turrets and SVs though, he should have stayed with regular hydras instead. he could have had more to drop on you since this seemed to be his preferred attack mode. Or maybe a combination, first hydras to kill all detection, then drop the lurkers. Once a good terran has SVs, turrets and comsat, i think lurks are to be forgotten.

Lurkers should NEVER be forgotten.

Simple question: What's the zerg's arch-terran-nemesis? Marines/medics, what kills marines/medics like nobodies business? Lurkers. In mid-late game, unless you sunken up your expansion (with like 5+ sunkens) a small posse of M&M will just waltz right into your expansions ancd clear it out really quickly. The best way to stop this is to have 3 Lurkers (2 if you upgrade the ranged attack) at key areas (like on Rivalry, randomly put them on bridges). IMO, going Hydra (in any form) against Terran is a good way to lose. Your alot better off with muta/ling (more so since scourge are right on that techline, which'll help against random scivessel-irradiate attacks). Randomly placed lurkers/scourge (all over the map) forces Terran players to do alot of micro just to move their units around. They hafta make sure their scivessels are over their marines (to protect from scourge), and that their marines don't walk over lurkers. It also hampers a terran's ability to just send out a small fleet of scivessels to irradiate random workers....

Dah, man did I go off topic=[ Oh well, my zerg sucks

Anyway you could make your pics a little bigger? They're hard to see.

I know, I'm just being picky.

Blank,

I think I should clarify myself. I meant lurkers as a means of attack not defense or interdiction. The opponent in this game kept dropping on the ghostman with lurkers. you can't do that to a terran after he has gotten all his detection armada, all your lurks do is become tank food.

Lets see, a 8 lurker drop means a 16 hydralisks drop, which i feel is more deadly if the terran has detection. That doesn't mean the hydras won't buy it, I just feel they would have time to do more damage then the lurks.

If you have lurkers then by all means spread them across the map to force the terran to micro. but don't keep dropping them on him when the first few times don't work!

Zergs aren't "furry" - they are NAKED!!!

I personally think that if Ghost could reach SV's, this guy could have teched to queens. Ensnare is a nifty counter to M&M with stimpack enhancements. He could have used his masses of lurkers to help defend his expansions from the M&M threat while he found a more viable anti-Marine weapon, such as ultralisks or guardians.

PR, while you are entitled to your opinion, and it is good to have someone sell out the people with lame reports, I have problem with what you are doing. Basically, you are really ripping into people with moderately good reports. I don't like the way it discourages some people, and I don't think it contributes anything to the discussion. As a favor to me, could you please try and tone the flames of the medium reports?

zerg = terran, atleast it was around 20 minutes after 1.05 was released. Now Terran > Zerg. Them bastard m&m rushes come before I can have a lurker out. Anyone care to teach me how to play as zerg? This is by far, my biggest problem. If I could counter m&m I'd be much better than I am right now. BTW, I'm looking for EARLY game, right now I just burrow lings around my base and then unburrow when the marines are right ontop. Later I use lurka, then I move onto queens with ensare and cracklings for tanks and lurka for m&m (atleast 6, using the stop command)

Anyone that wants to help with terran vs zerg (as zerg) or protoss vs zerg on islands (as zerg) plz contact me so you can make me good, maybe good enough to beat twip. I can beat twip in most race:race matchups =]

Heres's a build order for 2 hatch's and fairly quick lurkers....

10/9 hatch
overlord
pool
remake 9 9 becomes extractor, pump mad drones, 3 on gas once it's up (later to become 4)

Now, here's where the map comes in... if your playing on Temple, and you get any spot BUT the 12 spot, feel free to take your natural (followed by 2 sunkens once up, or mass-lings, I prefer sunkens and a few lings). If you don't have a semi-choke around your natural (IE, aftershock, rivalry, etc.) DON'T TAKE YOUR NATURAL. Build on your entrance ramp or right next to your hatch. If you have no choke, build at most, 1 sunken (since most non-choke ramps, marines can navigate around sunkens to hit other things, rather than direct engagement) and the rest lings, if you have a ramp choke (like most ladder maps) 2 sunkens will be enough. If no ramp but a choke, you'll probably need 6-12 zerglings (you'll need 18-24 anyways once you get lurkers).

If the terran was dumb enough to try to bunker you in this early, just pump mad lings and attack when you have abou 18-24 (if he did this, get the speed upgrade for lings BEFORE getting lair, otherwise, get lair first). Then just keep making drones/overlords and morph a lair when gas is available (make sure you have the minerals saved up to morph once you hit the 100 mark). Once you get 50 more gas, make a den (by now you should have 4 on gas). Keep on cranking drones and start getting more and more ling's. Once your den finishes, make about 6 hydra's. Get lurker aspect, asap and morph lurkers as necessary. In case your opponent manages to get a large enough M&M, morph lurker eggs on ramp (so he can't run up it atleast).

You should have 4-6 lurkers and 18-36 zerglings depending on how annoying your terran opponent was. After this, grab 2-3 expansions (preferabally with more gas) and start getting muta/ling.

A few notes: If you don't find a terran right away with an overlord, you might wanna scout with a drone, rather than wait for zerglings. Early drones offer 2 things against terran: 1 actual recon (most terrans will have marines at his ramp, denying later zerglings from recon) and 2 a safe place to expand if you should get contained. If you can't break containment, establish another hatchery outside his base.

Next, your zerglings are better off NOT in your base. Place them in the middle of the map or soemwhere out of the way. This way, once you get bunkered in (which most terrans will try to pull) you can run in with zerglings while the marines are away. Your main target with these lings should be his SCV line/factory/comstat.

Stack lurkers in 3's, I dunno why, but it's 10 times more effect than having lurkers in pairs (especially when terran get the +1 armor upgrade). Once you see a comstat sweep go over your lurkers, unburrow and run. If he didn't siege his tanks you should manage to pull out with all lurkers alive. Oh, and use the HALT command (or nail the stop key like a maniac) so enemy marines go right on top of the lurkers. This way, early warning marines (sent ahead of attack forces) won't know about the lurkers until it's too late.

When you Muta/ling him, don't engage M&M with the muta's (der) harass SCV lines, etc. If he's got a bunker or turret or something guarding his scv line, still hit it, but pull out damaged muta's before they die. It's impornant that you set him back without taking any losses. You should be mad teching to hive so you can get guardian/scourge/zergling/defiler combo.

Am I considered a comment whore? =]

Oh yeah, if he's stupid enough to go dual fac, just muta rush his poor ass=] no need for lurkers.... (hell, mass ling's would probably kill that)

Pitt: Let's play a drunk game sometime. Can't start 'till we've polished off 8 apiece.

Strats go straight to hell. So does micro. Well, hell, so does Macro for that matter.

Damn I SUCK when I'm drunk. But my comments are awesome.

Another ghostly victory, and a neat battle report to boot.

Good stuff ghost-san.

All the best,
