Good fucking LORD. When Heartcutter tank pushes, he doesn't mess around. It's been a while since I've seen that many tanks in the same spot.

Nice Report HC. The heavy metal strat is fantastic in the hands of a capable terran. Sometimes I just get lucky and find the right mix of vultures/tanks and it works for me.
And sometimes I am stupid and am forced to fight 20 speed zealots with 10 tanks! Bleh.
It's all about the right mix of vultures/tanks to kick the goons and zealots ass. I find it's safer to make extra vultures, cause you can always use those mines!

Heartcutter, I tried th heavy metal strat you gave 2 days ago on br.com. It worked realy very well. Besides laying mines outside my own base for defense and outside the other guys main to contain him, another good thing is to lay mines like right in front of zealots, then hit em, run, and they ll follow u and crash on the mine. After the tank push, its the mine push! :)

Heart when do you expand? Do you bother with any other tech buildings like academy, ebay, or armory, before exping? The one thing I didn't like about the heavy metal build is that I never could find the cash to exp until too late ;-<. Well, good job, and yesterday I just got my first loss to a terran (since I was a newbie) to a heavy metaller ;(. Actually it was a 2v2, but I was still impressed, impressed enough to start trying it again.
Finally, any words on drop defense? When I heavy metal I often die to just a simple dt drop or reaver drop, and while the reaver drop you just need to use a couple of tanks, the dt drop can be difficult without an ebay... |

I dont know about HC, but by the time a drop becomes a threat, I've put a bunker and a tank right next to my CC.
I make sure I either have a comsat or a turret there.
The hardest part about this strat for me continues to be using vultures. Fun, but vultures are very micro intensive. Cletus loves to blow himself up if you're not paying attention to him. :P |

| Why did you do all 4 reports? You need to get a geocities account or access to a FTP or something. Needing to upload more pictures than u can with the integrated thing is no reason to make it 4 parts. It's kinda annoying that there's only a few lines of text in 1 of them. As far as next buildings for this strat, the only real critical one is an academy. After that, I expand with a new CC at my main. You're most likely going to be expanding later than the 2 rax opening, but that's not necessairly a bad thing, as most likely you'll contain your opponents expansion efforts, if you're doing it right. I stopped my opponent repeatedly, and he finally got an expansion at 12. He had to work for it. And by the time he secured 12, Bork was on his way to his main.

Omnipresent, I believe in an earlier report Heartcutter said that the best drop defense when using heavy metal is just to mine your base. Purposely make an area near your peons that's just begging to be dropped on, then fill it with enough mines to blow any reaver or temp unfortunate enough to land there right into orbit.
