Anyhoo, i don't play koreans for the simple reason that you can't talk to them in games, and i've always found pre and post game chat about as amusing as the game itself. |

Disconnecting ethnic groups or not, it's racial slander (to a small extent) and rather offending to various person(s).
Anyhow, it's not like you need a certain ethnic variety to get disconnects from.
The wonderful world of b.net has started giving me disconnects for my wins.

Anyway, I've resorted to using that AEo (character map letters) symbol they use which probably means "join" to get more players for my Greed games. Of course, they have a habit of LEAVING mid-game..

Believe it or not, I had more American disc'ed on me then Koreans if I could tell by their BNet handle.
In all of my public games after my return, I was using a rather neutral name that one can hardly figure which nationality I belongs to (seiko), and half of of games are on hunters and temple, while the rest are other random maps. In half of them I was "pretending" to be Korean by saying stuff like "CHOBO GOGOGOG^^" sorta thing while in the other half was just acting normal. Nonetheless, most of the games in which my opponents disc'ed were the ones who speak perfect English.
It's just my personal experience that people who say things like "you good? this game bad me." are the uncommon ones who would say "GG" after the game, instead of "CHEAP Ass!, I'll own you! Fucking Rematch!!!". |

I've never had someone disconnect one me on b.net... now b.net disconnecting or screwing up well that seems to happen 75% of the time.
I think it all comes down to attitude... if you have a good game, have fun and don't trash talk too much most people aren't going to screw you over. Yes there are some (of every nationality) who just can't handle losing... that's part of sports/competition in general.
I think if you go in with an attitude of Korean = disconnector then that is exactly what you're going to get. Why do you think many Korean players say no disc? Maybe because they've been disconnected on many, many times.

Personally, I've mostly had Koreans disc on me on the ladder to the point where I gave it up. But there's a difference between saying "Most Koreans Disc" and "The Korean language is retarded"... the second one's the racial slur there. Americans disc just as much - it's just the truth that there're more Koreans playing the ladder, so it's more noticeable. At least, 's how it was a season or two back.

If you're gonna make a custom name for yourself, make it look like it blends in... and small enough not to mess with loading time. Mine is 5K I think.
The disconnecting Korean stereotype cracks me up, even though I know it's not true, it's still funny.
Ghost, you just hit the nail on the head with alot of disconnectors... if you are an ignorant bastard who rubs in your win, you may encourage someone who only disconnects on occasion to decide that you aren't a good enough sport to deserve a win. If you are polite, occasionally, a rabid disconnector might have a change of heart and leave you with the win. Even if someone attacks me when I am winning with verbal abuse, I try to stay polite if it's a ladder game. "Hey, I know how you feel, I lost 5 games on this map the same way... don't feel bad..." etc... It doesn't always work, but then, I'm not a contender for the top ranks of the ladder anyway, so if I don't get a win, it only frustrates me briefly.
It can be frustrating to lose, especially alot... a little politeness goes a long way with those people that don't have perfect video game honor. |

Hey, man don't dis English. I'm European, and I'll tell you English is the simplest (and therefore, by my standards, the best) language I know off. =)
Anyhow, I wouldn't dis Koreans like most people do... I remember one guy I met called Syaka, we played a ladder game on LT and he eradicated me on the main land. However, I managed to get both island exps, and eventually tech up to Carriers/Corsairs/Templar and win...
I think I woulda felt cheated... the guy razed both my main and my expansion... yet I still came back and win the game.
He didn't disc.
I was polite (remember, politeness pays...) but I think the Korean=Disconnector thing is unfair... a guy like Syaka doesn't deserve to be insulted by the stereotype... =(

I've been playin for quite a long time now, and I've been disconnceted by not only Koreans, but many others too... (I won't mention, it might hurt some ppl =P) So... Yeah...
